This wine, along with our Rosy, has caused quite the debate between semi-sweet wine aficionados! We highly recommend a bottle of both to determine which team you’re on. We’ve always called our semi-sweet style our “Vintage” so guests can easily distinguish the style of Riesling they enjoy when they order online or visit our tasting room. Winemaker, Leo Gabica, has found his rhythm for creating this well-balanced Riesling - sparkles of acidity tuck behind a bouquet of fresh blooming jasmine flowers and a twist of key lime.

A Note from Winemaker, Leo Gabica

“The Riesling is often one of our last varietals to come in for harvest. It’s the time when the air is turning crisp, we are spending more time in the cellar than on the crush pad - and I am looking forward to hardy harvest meals prepared by the staff. It may not seem like the environment for our “Vintage” Riesling to thrive - but I challenge you to see this wine outside of the bright citrus, spring and summer flavor profile. You are going to get the lively acidity and mouth watering texture you expect from our Rieslings - however, this varietal is so versatile. Explore it. Try this wine with a woodfired pizza with crackling bacon on top or a fresh salad with radishes and pumpkin seeds.  I harvested the fruit for the 2019 Vintage Riesling from our Estate Vineyard, as well as Foris Vineyards in the Illinois Valley of Southern Oregon. Foris Vineyards produces a Riesling that I love to blend with our cool-climate Riesling. Foris Vineyards is the southernmost vineyard in Oregon - the grapes are going to receive warmer temperatures and bring the richer notes to the wine. The 2019 Vintage Riesling is created purely in stainless steel to capture the aromatics and preserve the acidity.”

Our 2019 Vintage Riesling is a wine that truly brings people together. It is often the first wine that our guests have tried - for many, it’s the first wine they ever enjoyed. It isn’t overly sweet - the texture is refreshing. You could pour a glass after a long day and enjoy it on your back porch, or you could split a bottle over spicy fish tacos. This wine has been served at weddings, celebrations, and there hasn’t been a single day in the history of Sweet Cheeks Winery where we didn't sell at least one bottle of the Vintage Riesling.
